There is a saying (that I recently made up) that goes "Too many plates and not enough hands leaves food on the floor." Ok I made it up while typing it.
Anyway, I now have four writing projects on the burners. Here they are:
1.) Tilecre Book 2: The Keys Of Miniver
I finished the 1st book awhile ago and even though it's still in a limbo revising stage (waiting on those who said they'd read it to finish and offer suggestions) I've started on the 2nd book. I've written the bridge "chapter" (a "chapter" to bridge the 1st book to the 2nd) and am working on the first "chapter" (I don't like using the word chapter because I feel it denotes a certain length that I don't want to be constrained to, it makes it hard to stay motivated.) Right now I'm stuck in a scene in a hospital It's exposition and getting mucky but I'll soldier on and I've even made it my new years resolution to finish book 2 by the end of 2010.
2.) The Fencer Issue 5 (or 3)
This is the comic book I'm working on with my friend Kyle. I say 5 (or 3) because I've written 2 issues already but they are lengthy so we are splitting them into 2. So it feels to me like 3 but it will end up being 5. I started this awhile back but when I got into the meaty point I felt like all the characters were explaining the first scene over and over again and it was going no where. So I started over and am only in the 2nd scene but I like the restart and hopefully I won't get bogged down again. However seeing as how Kyle is taking a hiatus on drawing the 1st book, I'm taking about the same amount of time writing this one.
3.) The Blood Peacock
I've always wanted to write a mystery but I don't think I do a good enough job building suspense. Thankfully I've found some people in this world who share my want of writing. So we've started a writing project together called The Blood Peacock. We're somewhat spoofing Agatha Christie, which I've barely read one novel of. In fact I just gave up and watched the video (of course checking to see if it was accurate.) It turned out to be a good story, I wish the novel held my interest better. As for writing this it will be off and on but that won't be bad since I'm not the only one writing.
4.) The Traveler/The Trefoil
This is in a planning stage, even the title is up in the air. I want to write a story based from Dr. Who. A mysterious guy travels around gaining companions and has marvelous adventures. I've written a little bit of it but I really want to figure out everything before I begin, which isn't normally how I write. I mean I think it would have three books. But I want to know what the traveler is looking for? (the trefoil?) what significance does it have? What's it do? I've going back and forth on ideas and I feel like it should be three books or maybe one book in three parts. Anyway, it's on the list of things I'm working on and I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't take off for a while. Tilecre took a couple of years itself to be written. I'm not rushing this one.
That's it. Also recently I decided that my new years resolution is to finish Tilecre Book 2. So I'm going to start drilling away on it in 2010.
